About the Artist

Dabbling in painting since college, it wasn’t until the summer of 2018 that Jennifer Hoover Bertz poured herself into art and found purpose through a paint brush. While spending the summer on a bridge-less barrier island, she was inspired by the beauty of the environment and began painting in front of some of the locals on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina. She sold some paintings on the spot, and J.Hooverhangings was launched.

Having taught elementary education for over 16 years, Jennifer is not afraid to let loose, get her hands dirty, and play. She considers herself a contemporary artist working in different types of mediums, especially acrylics. Because she works quickly and is always on the go, the fast drying acrylics give her work lots of layers.

Jennifer finds inspiration in nature and is reminded to open her eyes to God’s masterpieces. She enjoys combining two of her passions, teaching and painting. As a Challenge Teacher with Greenville County Schools, she teaches gifted 3rd and 4th graders and also instructs both children and adults in private art lessons. Jennifer is married to Kevin Bertz. Together, they reside in Greenville, SC with their son, Luke Miller.
